About
In the summer of 2008, a Tech Fee proposal for a student podcasting studio was approved. The Student Association, Incorporated (SAI), via its Multimedia Access Center (MAC Lab), makes both the studio equipment and the portable equipment available to students and student groups.
Caleb Brown and Shaun Chapman developed the Hive as the primary source of Cal U student-created content on the web. The Hive Podcast Community features both audio and video clips that can be viewed online, subscribed to in iTunes or a feed-reader, and can be downloaded for use on a portable media player.
Studio time can be reserved in 1 or 2 hour blocks by contacting the MAC Lab one week in advance to guarantee availability.
MAC Lab staff will:
• help you use the equipment
• help you brainstorm ideas
• help you upload to YouTube/iTunes/the web
• link your audio/video file(s) to The Hive (content subject to review/approval)
• host your university-related audio/video file(s)
The MAC Lab will NOT host your non-university-related content.
Training
Everyone who wishes to use the podcast equipment will be required to watch a short training video and sign an agreement of the stated policies.
